“We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there ‘is’ such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.”

- Martin Luther King Jr., 1967

Through community engagement, Lawrence Equity: The Fierce Urgency of Now will facilitate the uncomfortable conversations that lead to courageous actions. We encourage community leaders and groups across Lawrence to come together to learn about institutional racism, examine issues from others' perspectives, and discover ways to facilitate long-term change.  Dr King’s words are the powerful beacon that will guide us as we take the journey to become antiracist, both as individuals and as a community.
